Glaze Day
Do you find the whole process of glazing the main stumbling block in the studio?
This may be the day that changes your view on glazing forever!
This is a full day workshop aimed at the intermediate potter, you are not alone if you find it all a bit daunting. Tutor Clair Robinson will cover the whole process of preparing, mixing, and getting the glaze hydrolytically accurate.
It’s a hands-on experimental day, trying different techniques and methods for applying glazes to pots. Bisque ware will be provided, however you are welcome to bring along your own stoneware pots.
*Please note : this workshop is aimed at the intermediate potter, not beginners.
Clair Robinson
After moving to the Isle of Wight as a child, Clair discovered a lifelong passion for working with clay. She studied Ceramics and Art at A level, then earned a diploma in Ceramic Design in Southampton in 1987. Her career included roles such as production manager at a local pottery, before qualifying to teach pottery at the Isle of Wight College. In 2002, the original studio site was redeveloped, and classes moved to Jubilee Stores where she is currently a tutor and technician. Affectionately known as the “Glazy Queen” or “Kiln Goddess,” Clair continues to inspire others through her teaching and love for ceramics.
