Salt House
Salt House have been a mainstay on the folk scene for over a decade. The band’s reputation as thoughtful and innovative interpreters of both ancient ballads and contemporary songs has been solidified with acclaimed album releases, extensive touring, and widespread airplay. The trio are all accomplished songwriters in their own right, united by a shared love of place, people and evolving stories. Their music weaves seamless vocal harmonies with intricate arrangements of heartfelt instrumental interplay.
The band have released five studio albums in close collaboration with Hudson Records, whilst building a strong reputation through considerable touring across the UK and Europe. Their latest record, Scarrow, is a beacon of hope and unity during uncertain times, deeply tied to the seasonal rhythms of the natural world, reflecting the warmth and connection at the heart of their music. Released in October 2025 to widespread acclaim, Scarrow was described by Folk London as “the kind of songs you feel you’ve known all your life”, alongside receiving a 10/10 review from Folk Notes.
New songs that sound like they’ve always been here, ancient ballads woken up. Poems given melodies they’ve long deserved.
Salt House's sound is influenced by the landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, Northumberland and Shetland, the respective homes of band members Ewan MacPherson (vocals, electric and acoustic guitars), Anna Hughes (vocals, fiddle, viola, tenor guitar) and Jenny Sturgeon (vocals, keys, guitar).
