HOSPITALITY TEAM LEADER
Full Time – 36 hrs per week

The Hospitality Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of Quay Arts’ café and bar, guaranteeing the highest standards of hygiene, safety and customer service. This includes implementing effective procedures, supervising staff and assisting the hires and events team. Good communication and team leadership skills are essential for this post. You will also need to demonstrate a strong financial awareness, to ensure that good profitability is achieved generating income for the charity. 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Set a high standard and good example for café staff with regards to punctuality, attendance, dress code and to promote a positive work ethic. 
  • Attend weekly communication meetings as required and updating team members with relevant information. 
  • Alongside Centre Manager, oversee and manage all cafe elements of staff recruitment, training, development, and performance management. 
  • Liaise with the Centre Manager to ensure staff rotas are produced and that the café diary is always up to date. 
  • Ensure all café staff are adhering to cleaning rotas and procedures in line with Environmental Health Office standards and procedures. 
  • Assist kitchen team to develop new menu ideas based on seasonality and customers’ preferences. Review prices on an ongoing basis to ensure value for money. Co-ordinate with vendors and order supplies, as needed (such as bar stock, café stock and café disposables.) 
  • Oversee stock rotation and storage of produce is carried out correctly.  
  • Manage and have a full understanding of the café POS systems including the production of reports from the system.  
  • Effectively analyse and review financial information and reports so that all areas of responsibility are performing to budget expectations and sales opportunities are identified. 
  • Work alongside Events and Arts teams to ensure all activities are run effectively to a high standard.  
  • Oversee running of areas as required in Centre Manager’s absence. 
  • Oversee all security procedures including opening and closing when required. 
  • Ensure compliance with licensing legislation is implemented correctly. 
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post’s level of responsibility. 

conferences/meetings, private hires, and weddings, (amongst many other events), and you will play an integral part in assisting with planning and delivering any catering requirements for these. You will also be required to adopt and maintain health and safety policies and ensure kitchen practices are upheld to a high standard – this list is not exhaustive. This is a varied, fast-paced and exciting role where flexibility is essential – although the majority of shifts will be daytime there will be some requirement for evening shifts in line with the centre’s events programming schedule.

CLEANER
Part Time – 10hrs per week

Quay Arts are looking for a part time cleaner based at the centre in Sea Street, Newport. Hours to be discussed – some flexibility available. Immediate start available.
