Paper Making Taster Day

Sat 9 November Sat 9 November

Handmade paper can be incorporated into many creative activities, bookbinding, printing and 3D objects. In this taster day we will use recycled materials from Quay Arts and plant fibre to create a selection of A4 sheets of paper which can be used for your own projects.  Kae will take you through the tools and materials you will need and the basic techniques of making paper.  You’ll start by making a mould and deckle, which is yours to keep, and you’ll use that to make your paper.

All your materials are supplied, but you may also like to bring items to include in your paper, such as flower petals, leaves, threads, lace etc. Please ensure that any plant materials are fully dried out. Don’t forget an apron, paper making can be messy!

Some of your handmade paper sheets may not be dry by the end of the class as it’s best to leave them to dry naturally.  At the end of the class, your paper sheets can be packaged so you can finish drying them at home.

Light refreshments are provided, but please bring a packed lunch or you’ll have time to visit the Quay Arts Café.

Suitable for all, 18yrs +

DONATE TO QUAY ARTS

Even a little money can make a big difference at Quay Arts

Did you realise that when you buy a cup of freshly ground barista coffee in our Café Bar, you are helping to support the cultural life of the Isle of Wight?

However, the generosity of our supporters goes beyond sales of food, drink and theatre tickets. Gifts of money, time, and even specific items make a huge difference to the amount of work we can do. Together, we can continue to enrich the lives of islanders and visitors with our fantastic programme of events.
