Join artist Caroline Underwood on a day devoted to charcoal. With tips and demonstrations, students will be supported to create large scale monotone, dramatic skyscapes in our theatre space. Participants need to supply materials, we also have art materials for sale in our Quay Arts shop, see the image at the bottom of the page for our supplies list. If you are buying materials from our Shop, please buy in advance to the workshop as we have limited supplies!
Suitable for beginners!
Materials List – please bring the following
- 1 piece of compressed black charcoal
- 1 piece of compressed white charcoal or soft pastel / chalk
- 8 x thin charcoal sticks
- 8 x thick charcoal sticks
- Fixative / hairspray
- Masking tape, low tack and regular masking tape is recommended
- 1 x roll of lining paper
Caroline Underwood is an experienced tutor with a painting and drawing practice that explores traditional and experimental disciplines to create predominately black and white landscapes, seascapes and skyscapes. Caroline was Quay Arts 2019 OPEN exhibition winner and holds a Fine Art MA.
