Between the Sea and the Sky

An exhibition by artist Trudie Wilson

Sat 24 February Sat 23 March

Between the Sea and the Sky

A solo exhibition by Island-based artist Trudie Wilson, containing works inspired by the Isle of Wight landscape. It incorporates drawing, sculpture, painting, alongside handmade materials and other works. The exhibit shares an exploration of local geology and place, as well as the Islands potential as both material and inspiration.

Trudie’s work is inspired by the landscapes she passes through, as a local artist she is deeply invested in the Island and her understanding of it. Her work reflects an ongoing connection with landscape and geology beneath our feet. The pigments were foraged along the coastline of the Island and carefully recorded using geological guides, these are processed into artists’ pigments ready to be transformed into materials. Throughout this project, there is an ongoing investigation into the making of artists’ materials and a focus on incorporating them into her practice.

This is a compilation of artworks, thoughts, ideas and experiments using local pigments along with other materials and our landscape as the source. This shares some of the work from a DYCP (developing your creative practice) project funded by the Arts Council.

Even a little money can make a big difference at Quay Arts

Did you realise that when you buy a cup of freshly ground barista coffee in our Café Bar, you are helping to support the cultural life of the Isle of Wight?

However, the generosity of our supporters goes beyond sales of food, drink and theatre tickets. Gifts of money, time, and even specific items make a huge difference to the amount of work we can do. Together, we can continue to enrich the lives of islanders and visitors with our fantastic programme of events.
