Quay Arts’ Youth Offer: SECOND WAVE

Quay Arts is one of 12 organisations awarded funding by the Isle of Wight Council to deliver youth provision from April 2017 to the end of March 2018. Quay Arts is offering young people aged  11 – 19 years  (and up to 25 years with additional needs) a wide variety of creative arts activities lead by practicing artists.

We offer free places to young people who have been referred to us as well as heavily subsidised places for young people who are interested in giving our workshops a go.

To register for Second WAVE, please contact Jeni Saunders, Project Manager for Second WAVE j.saunders@quayarts.org

Gallery Response Projects

Small groups of young people referred through island agencies and schools visit an exhibition in one of our galleries and go on to work alongside artists to create their own exhibition in response.

We have funding to work with one group to offer a Gallery Response Project which will be on display later this year in the Clayden Gallery.

ARTS AWARD SUMMER SCHOOOL

During the school summer  holidays,  we will be running a series of fun, exploratory workshops, led by artists Ian Whitmore and Hannah George, which will help you to gain an Arts Award (Discover or  Explore). Free for referrals / £4

With IOW Literary Festival in the Seminar Room (Quay Arts)

There’s great power in comedy and laughter. Humour is vital for everybody, and it brings happiness as well as new ways of thinking about the world and seeing things. It can be a way of making your ideas stick, if you make people laugh while explaining them. It can be an excellent way to draw in friends, and bond a friendship group.

Why not join us for this series of Comedy workshops with Comedian Bobbin? You will need to come to all of the workshops on Sunday afternoons before taking part in a showcase at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival.

The Children do a mix of solo work, sketches and improvisation games, similar to what you would see on ‘Mock the Week’, ‘Set List’ and ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’. Each workshop is different; building up the attendees’ skills with every class and doing different activities each time.

The parents can come back near the end of the session to watch the last 10-15 minutes, so the children’ families can see some of what they have been up to.

To book please call our Box Office on 01982 822490.
