Love Quay Profile - Chris
Chris: Artist & Member of our Education Team
Chris on… becoming involved
I first got involved when I showed work as part of a group show and live event called ‘Free Quay’ in 2007. Soon after that I applied to an Arts Council gallery education scheme called ‘Enquire’ which the Quay was taking part in, after which I became part of the Education team. When I moved to the Island I found that the Quay is THE art centre for the Island!
Chris on… inspirational Quay
Quay Arts offers amazing spaces to artists, opportunities for young people and thought-provoking shows for visitors as well as a hub for craftspeople and performers. I find these spaces, and young people using them on their own terms, really inspirational.
Chris on… Quay memories
My best memory at Quay was the performance for ‘Kingdom of Old’, a show in 2009. I was joint artist and it involved a month of workshops, tonnes of junk, homemade costumes and instruments, and an orchestra made up from the visitors to the Quay that day. It was WILD!
Chris on… Quay’s future
I’d like to see more Live art and music collaboration, and funding to support more outreach work.
