To celebrate Walk the Wight and our beautiful Island, we asked for your help to create a postcard exhibition for display during Turner Prize winning artist Richard Long’s exhibition The Isle of Wight as Six Walks.
At the Needles finish line during the Walk the Wight event on Sunday 14th May, we handed out postcards which asked walkers to describe their walk in six words. Much like the work of Richard Long, he also uses text to create poetic word installations in the gallery describing his walks around the world.
We’ve turned these wonderful words by Walk the Wight walkers into a postcard exhibition in our Clayden Gallery, coinciding with Long’s exhibition and response exhibition by patients at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice ‘Walking…Dreams & Memories’.
Walk the Wight raises much needed funds for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. With thousands of people participating, it is one of the largest charity events of the year on the Isle of Wight.
