The Coptic book is one of the oldest methods of binding used by the Christians (Copts) in 4th Century Ethiopia. Coptic binding has hard covers and exposed sewing on the spine and opens flat which makes it a suitable for sketchbooks, journals or notebooks. During this workshop you will learn how to prepare the book covers and create the sewn sections and then make an open-ended slipcase for your Coptic book, using bookbinding greyboard covered in bookcloth.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those with some bookbinding experience
