A step-by-step, guide to building up your own art practice, looking into the delicate balances which make an image work: Composition, Perspective, Colour mixing, and ‘Framing’.
Starting with basic composition and discussing the ‘Golden Mean’, we will look at colour composition from Etruscan wall painting up to 21th century art, reflecting on how artists’ techniques and priorities create memorable art. We will move onto the importance of colour priority and finish with how to present a work of art, whether 2 or 3 dimensional or conceptual in its approach.
We will discuss questions such as ‘What makes a successful and memorable piece?’ ‘Does each era impose its own Zeitgeist?’ ‘A painting may be popular, but is it necessarily ‘good’?’
