Mondays, 19 Feb – 26 Mar (6 weeks) / 2 – 4.30pm / £90 / £85* concessions
This beginners’ course will show you how to lay and overlay watercolour washes, to deepen and change colours and to build up, step by step, a simple painting. Some basic drawing will be included to help you with composition. Along the way you will learn a few tricks of the trade to take away and continue with your new-found skills. A materials list is available online or from Box Office.
Materials List (student quality materials will be fine):
Water jars and drawing boards are provided, but it would be useful to have a drawing board of your own (MDF, approx 20in x16in)
A small box of watercolour paints containing 10 or 12 pans or tubes
3 round brushes, 1 large (12), 1 medium (8) and 1 small (2)
A palette. NOT a flat palette, but one containing a number of cups in which puddles of watery paint can be mixed – a deep ice cube tray works
Watercolour paper. A pad A3 size, 140lb (300gms) with a “Not” surface
Drawing paper. A3 size basic sketch pad or sheets of printing paper
Pencil HB, H or thereabouts
A putty rubber, a ruler and a roll of gummed paper tape.
