A thriving charity built on a firm Foundation
Quay Arts is an independent registered charity, sponsored and managed by the Steve Ross Foundation for the Arts Charity Reg. No. 272007. The foundation is in memory of Lord Ross of Newport, long serving Member of Parliament for the Isle of Wight and founder member of Quay Arts.
The Quay Arts Trading Company is made up of the Café Bar, Craft Shop and conferencing facilities and is the trading arm of Steve Ross Foundation for the Arts. It exists for the sole purpose of supporting the charity and its mission. Hence any surplus generated returns directly to the charity.
Existing grants and the funding gap
As a charity and now entirely self-financed, Quay Arts has to sustain itself through its commercial activities and the support from the Isle community. The majority of our revenue is generated through our shop, café, events and creative courses. Every penny we raise is reinvested in our programmes, exhibitions, events and facilities. However, this leaves us with a shortfall and we are seeking support from individuals and organisations to help sustain and develop our vibrant programme of activities through our QuayHolder scheme.
Why Quay Arts needs people like you
The commercial arm of the organisation Quay Arts Trading Company brings in much needed revenue through our Café Bar, Conferencing and Craft Shop activities.
Money is also raised from ticket and art sales. Other related forms of income include some very valuable support through sponsorship relationships with The Isle of Wight County Press and Red Funnel.
But the real answer to the question “who funds Quay Arts?” is: You. Whenever you spend money at Quay Arts, on food and drink, or art and craft, you are helping us continue to provide exhibitions, live events, classes and workshops, activities for children, work with schools and everything else we do. You can help us do even more by donating money directly, or by volunteering your time to work here.
Help put the fun into fundraising
Fundraising helps us sustain, develop and expand our work. Recently this has included:
- Providing more children’s art projects and gallery education opportunities
- Helping to support and promote Island artists
- Providing unique cultural and artistic experiences
- Helping to source and develop new studio spaces
- Providing an opportunity for young people to learn film making
- Creating more opportunities for everyone to participate in the arts
Fundraising is a key part of fulfilling our ambition to be a thriving independent arts organisation, providing high-quality exhibitions, live events, courses, and creating opportunities for everyone to take part in art activities.
It is rewarding and often fun-filled work. If you would like to find out more, get involved, or make a donation, please contact the team on 01983 822490 or send us an email today.
